Despite limitations and difficulties in the
country, the Bank established an insurance
company. Necessary analyses were carried
out; according to legislation, the total
capital of the insurance company was
required to be local. Following feasibility
studies possibilities, together with the
Turkish Grain Board, that paid up to
TL 1 million in insurance premiums, an
insurance company was established with
TL 2.5 million in capital in 1957. Güneş
Sigorta A.Ş., one of Turkey’s leading
insurance companies, commenced
insurance operations to contribute to the
development of the country.
